Please welcome …..

(in order of joining the Practice)

Dr Rhynal Rodrigues – BSc, MBBS, MRCGP – Gambling Awareness Lead

I’m Dr. Rhynal Rodrigues and I’ve recently started at Mickleover Medical Centre in May 2025. Initially I was just looking for any job, but I joined this lovely practice as when I visited the site prior to the interview, everyone seemed like they were part of a family and a great team managed by a lovely group of partners and practice manager, which ended up being true. This is definitely a place that has proven to be one where I enjoy working at and a lovely team I enjoy being a part of. The short commute also was enticing as it allowed me to be home if my wife or newborn son ever needed me.

Being from the Caribbean, specifically Trinidad and Tobago, I’ve worked in many different parts of the world and that affords me a vast amount of medical experience to deal with many problems but also exposure to various types of cultures which also enriches my consultation skills.

My passions at work are patient care, quality improvement and teaching, while at home, are my wife and son. I’m also a fan of dogs, much like many of my colleagues at the practice though, cats, I admit, are growing on me.

I’m grateful to be at Mickleover Medical Centre and it is an absolute pleasure to be your GP and to be able to give patients high quality medical care and assist you any way I can. I look forward to seeing you.

Dr Azfar Alam – MBBS, MRCGP

I’m Dr Azfar Alam, I joined the Practice because I really value the supportive, forward-thinking environment here, and I feel it’s a place where both patients and clinicians are genuinely cared for. For me, it’s not just about being part of a team but also about being part of a community — one that’s always striving to deliver great care and innovate in how we provide care.

Outside of work, I love hitting the gym, badminton, swimming, and spending time with family, and we’re often out exploring local parks and sports facilities.

Dr Fraser Currie – BSc, MD, MRCGP, Prostate Cancer Clinical Champion

I’m Dr Fraser Currie, born and raised in Cornwall, I craved the buzz of the city and moved to London for university. After spending most of my student loan attending gigs and sporting events, I completed my first degree and relocated to Malta for my medical training.

I was drawn to MMC as my first post as a qualified GP by the innovative and forward-thinking team and the opportunity to develop myself under the mentorship of my peers. Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with my 2 golden retrievers and finding nice coffee.
